A new game is coming for the world-famous anime with the title Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable.

There are already a handful of video games out there adapting the Attack on Titan series. The world makes for a great, but complex video game experience that is undoubtedly challenging for developers. Allowing players to have the freedom of movement necessary to swing around cities or forests like the Survey Corp is a daunting task. The games have been successful and popular in the past, though, and now something even bolder is coming. This time, it’s a virtual reality experience to go up against the anime’s terrifying monsters.

Attack On Titan VR

A trailer for Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable recently hit the internet. It shows off the gameplay as well as gives a release window for when gamers can expect to be jumping into the action. The description of the game calls it a “VR hunting action game where you join the Scout Regiment, strap into your ODM gear, and take on killer Titans while protecting your homeland.”

The trailer makes the game seem as immersive as it is terrifying. It seems as though the viewer is really swinging above the roofs of Shiganshina. And, at the same time, it seems as though they’re really coming face-to-face with the vicious Titans roaming around inside the walls.

The developer of the game is UNIVRS. It’s a Japanese virtual reality game development studio. This is only the company’s second title after also doing a VR game for another popular anime, Little Witch Academia. The game will be launching on the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro VR systems this winter.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is one of the hottest new trends in the video gaming industry. Many different companies are trying to invest in what could potentially be the next big leap for the medium. At the moment, however, it still is out of reach for most consumers. Cost and convenience are the primary factors. The Meta Quest 2 headset costs $399.99. It requires a significant amount of space for its use because of the need for infrared cameras. And the fact that the technology is still in the early stages means there just aren’t that many games to attract potential customers right now. There is a massive fanbase for Attack on Titan, though, so this new game could bring some new players to the Meta platform.
