‘Below Deck Med’: Captain Sandy Says ‘Hate’ Doesnt Live In Her Heart

TV Shows

Below Deck Mediterranean star Captain Sandy Yawn says she has no room for hate. She’s not the type of person who hates anyone. But, she somehow managed to end up as the most-hated captain out of the entire Below Deck franchise. In 2020, Hannah Ferrier was fired from her position of chief stew on Season 5.

Her crewmate Malia White learned that she had a CBD pen and Valium onboard. That ended up with Sandy, who had issues with Hannah from the start. It was clear that the two didn’t get along. Hannah’s firing was one of the most controversial moments in the franchise. Sandy received a majority of the backlash as some claimed the decision was too severe.

Captain Sandy Yawn doesn’t “hate” anyone

Ahead of the Season 7 premiere of Below Deck Med, Captain Sandy Yawn spoke to Us Weekly about her strained relationship with Hannah. She admitted that she doesn’t “hate” anyone. Hannah previously revealed that Captain Sandy didn’t like her and wanted her fired from day one. The longtime captain made it clear that she doesn’t hate anyone and that Hannah was the one who didn’t like her.

“Hannah didn’t want any part of me,” Captain Sandy Yawn told Us Weekly. “I feel I’m happy for her in everything that she’s doing. Honestly — I’ve never had a feeling of hate. It doesn’t live in my heart.”

She “tried” to reach out to the Below Deck Med alum to explain the situation. But, Hannah wasn’t here for “any part of it.” Captain Sandy said she wishes her the best. She doesn’t want to wish her poorly. As for her controversial firing decision, Sandy said she isn’t “gonna risk my career for anybody.”

Below Deck Med fans are still divided over that decision to this day. Hannah made her debut on the series in Season 1 when it premiered in 2016. The show returns tonight without Hannah or even Malia, who took a step back after the social media backlash. Malia reported Hannah for having the unregistered items in the first place.

Applauds Below Deck Med alum’s new venture

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Hannah is returning to the high seas in a new show titled The Real Love Boat. It’s expected to premiere sometime in Fall 2022 on CBS. Captain Sandy reacted to Hannah’s new venture. Once again, she made it clear that she’s happy for the Below Deck Med alum.

“[It’s] awesome,” Sandy said. “I’m so happy for her. I genuinely meant that. She wants TV. I’m so happy that she has that.”

The Real Love Boat is based on the classic series from the ’70s and ’80s. The cameras will follow singles on a real-life luxury cruise ship in the Mediterranean as they look for love. Season 7 of Below Deck Mediterranean returns on Monday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET with a super-sized premiere. Apparently, the crew members don’t get along right off the bat.
