Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) isn’t sure her husband is a lucky man. She knows he works harder than anyone, but as she says in the Dutton Ranch exclusive sneak peek above, he’s lost more than he’d ever admit. Rip (Cole Hauser) starts working for Beulah (Annette Bening) at the 10 Petal Ranch in Episode 5, out tomorrow, June 5, on Paramount+, and TV Insider has your exclusive first look at the episode.
Beth and Rip had to start anew again after they were forced to execute all of their cattle. The future they had in mind for their ranch died with him, and now Rip is Beulah’s new foreman at the rival 10 Petal Ranch. Beth is walking her horse with veterinarian Everett McKinney (Ed Harris) in the clip above, and he tries to comfort Beth as she worries about her husband’s new job.
Everett called Rip a lucky man for having a family to take care of. Beth isn’t so sure he’s lucky after their ranch in Montana was destroyed and now their herd in Texas is dead.
“He devoted his life to the Yellowstone,” Beth tells Everett. “This, this place was supposed to be his time, his ranch. He’s smart. He listens, and he leads. Beulah’s the lucky one.”
Everett, who has an on-again, off-again fling with Beulah, gives some advice. Beulah needs a good foreman after going through three in one year alone. She won’t burn through Rip, Beth says.
