Beth Has Hidden Agenda at Beulah’s Big 10 Petal Ranch Celebration (Exclusive)

Saddle up for a Texas-size shindig at rich rancher Beulah Jackson’s (Annette Bening) family spread. That popping sound could be champagne corks or gunfire.

“It’s a bit of a special episode as it focuses on Beulah’s big 10 Petal Ranch anniversary celebration,” previews Dutton Ranch director Phil Abraham of the Yellowstone spinoff’s seventh episode. Beulah holds the fiesta every five years, and the ranch is now a ripe old 190.

“We find Beth [Kelly Reilly], Rip [Cole Hauser], and Carter [Finn Little] reluctant attendees as they head over to the party, cowboy-style, on horseback,” Abraham says. The family is still getting used to working for Beulah after the tragedy of losing their entire cattle herd to foot-and-mouth disease contracted from a bull they’d purchased from an unscrupulous broker.

Everyone’s always at the hitchin’ post at parties, and Beth and Rip are wary of the crowd from the time they dismount. “[They] already suspect something is wrong at the 10 Petal. They know there’s something rotten in the state of Denmark but don’t yet have their finger on it,” Abraham reveals. “Beth tells Rip, ‘Keep your powder dry.’ They remain on high alert.” It’s a wise approach considering everyone at this party is probably packing and tempers tend to flare in this crowd.

Besides, Beth’s got a secret to-do list. “[Her] true motive is to show up and smooth the way into this new partnership with [meat distributor] Zane Nash [Marlon Young],” says Abraham, who also promises party favors for fans anticipating Dutton drama and curious about just why the Jacksons are so dysfunctional. “[There are] lots of big moments for our characters here. Through flashbacks, we become privy to the origin stories of [Beulah’s sons] Joaquin [Juan Pablo Raba], Rob-Will [Jai Courtney], and Beulah herself.”
