Dancing With the Stars champion Bindi Irwin is getting candid about her “invisible illness” during a very vital month. She has been through a lot in her twenty-seven years, but whatever she has to say, fans listen. Now, she is speaking up, and it is extremely valuable. Keep reading for more details on what she has to say.
Bindi Irwin Gets Candid On ‘Invisible Illness’
Fans have always loved and adored Bindi Irwin. She has had a spunky personality and is wise beyond her years. Viewers saw her alongside her late father, Steve Irwin, on The Crocodile Hunter. Her charm and love for all creatures were sweet and something to be admired. Sadly, she lost her father in 2006, but her family never gave up. Bindi, her mother, Terri, and baby Robert ensured that Steve’s memory stayed alive through various projects. In 2015, Bindi joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars, which was a new and fun challenge.

Along with pro Derek Hough, she won her season, and viewers absolutely adored her. However, behind the scenes, she was facing something much more painful and serious. For over a decade, Bindi suffered, going undiagnosed, living as a teen and young woman, never knowing why her body was rebelling. As it turned out, she had horrific endometriosis and spent years trying to find an answer. Since March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, Bindi wanted to share her story, as well as hospital snaps, to make others understand the severity. For those unaware:
“Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterus lining grows elsewhere, causing inflammation, pain, and scar tissue.”
Pain, infertility, heavy bleeding, fatigue, and extreme cramping are just some of the symptoms. However, everyone is different. To diagnose, doctors may want to do laparoscopic surgery. That can give them a much better view of where the growths are, as well as their sizes. Taking a patient seriously is the only way to help them get better and not suffer in the long run. For Bindi Irwin, she has had more than 50 endometriosis lesions removed from her body, her appendix, and a hernia repair.
Such Bravery
After Bindi Irwin shared her painful story, her friends, family, and fans were incredibly supportive. Moreover, they applauded her bravery and how she was able to open up about what she had been through and her “invisible illness”:
- Thank you for sharing, take care 🙏❤️
- You are so strong and so brave! Thank you for being so inspiring. I pray you continue to heal and live pain free! ❤️🙏🏼
Her mother, Terri, shared how proud she was of her daughter and noted that all women should be able to live without pain. Bindi’s brother, Robert Irwin, also won DWTS. He danced with Witney Carson, who chimed in with nothing but praise for Bindi:
- You’re so brave! I’m so proud of you
Bind Irwin’s husband, Chandler Powell, also celebrated his wife:
- Strongest person I know. So proud to be your husband ❤️
Hopefully, this will inspire women to see that they need to be heard and can be out of pain. Did you know that Bindi had been through this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
