Blue Bloods Fan Favorite Reunites With Donnie Wahlberg On Spinoff
Boston Blue follows Detective Daniel “Danny” Reagan from New York City to Boston, where he joins the Boston Police Department. Donnie Wahlberg was the only actor from Blue Bloods to appear in the spinoff as a series regular. The all-new cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green, Gloria Reuben, Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, and Ernie Hudson.
The first season of the spinoff was a huge success. It was easily renewed for a second season. Several Blue Bloods alums made appearances on Boston Blue, including Bridget Moynahan. Now, another fan favorite returns to the fold.
Donnie Wahlberg shared a photo on Instagram Story that included some of his current co-stars and one from Blue Bloods. Sonequa Martin-Green, Marcus Scribner, and Mika Amonsen were featured in the photo. Blue Bloods fans immediately recognized another familiar face – Will Estes. He played Jamie, the brother of Donnie Wahlberg’s character on the CBS police drama.

Showrunner Teases More Returns To Come In New Season
Will Estes likely won’t be the only OG Blue Bloods star to guest star in Season 2. Co-showrunner Brandon Sonnier teased that viewers can expect more familiar faces to pop up on Boston Blue.
“I don’t know that we should say which Reagans are coming, but there will be more — including some you haven’t seen on the show yet. And there are other branches of this family tree we’re excited to explore,” he told TV Line in December. Could one of those faces be Tom Selleck, the Reagan family patriarch?
The Magnum P.I. star publicly expressed his frustration and shock that CBS canceled Blue Bloods, especially after the cast took pay cuts.
“It was very frustrating because Blue Bloods was, out of the top 100 shows on broadcast television, Blue Bloods was No. 6 in our 15th year. Nobody wanted to leave, everybody was gonna stay on. That’s hard to get,” he said on Ted Danson’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast just last month.
Tom Selleck, 81, said that he wasn’t sure appearing on the spinoff was the right move. He seems to still be hurt and upset over the show’s cancellation. However, he’s still close friends with Donnie Wahlberg, and the door is open for him to appear on Boston Blue.
