What To Know

  • Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel reflected on their ‘Boy Meets World’ costar Ben Savage “ghosting” them.
  • Fishel expressed understanding for Savage’s decision not to participate in the podcast but shared her sadness over their lost closeness.
  • The cast emphasized there was no falling out or animosity.

Boy Meets World stars Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel shared rare comments on Ben Savage “ghosting” them six years after their falling-out.

During an interview with People published on Wednesday, June 3, Friedle, 49 — who played Eric Matthews, the older brother of Savage’s character, Cory Matthews — confessed, “There’s so many times I want to pick up the phone and still do.”

He continued, “I know I’m shouting into the void, but I’m going to keep doing it. I haven’t given up on my friend. I’m hoping that he comes back into our lives at some point, and when he does, we’re going to have a lot to talk about.”

Additionally, Fishel, 45, who played Cory’s girlfriend and eventual wife, Topanga Lawrence, weighed in on her relationship with Savage today. The Dancing With the Stars alum explained that although she has “immense understanding and grace” for Savage not wanting to participate in their rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World, she misses how close they used to be.

“I love imagining him in this new chapter of his life as a dad. I know he has had a baby girl. He’s now a husband,” Fishel shared, of Savage’s wife,  Tessa Angermeier, and their daughter, born in November 2025.

She added, “We talked a lot about how he looked forward to being a dad someday. So I like imagining this phase of life that he’s in now. And it makes me sad sometimes when I think about the fact that I would love to just know, like, ‘How’s it going? What’s happening now? What are the milestones that are being checked off?’”

In 2022, Friedle, Fishel, and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), 46, started Pod Meets World. Although Savage, 45, was originally rumored to be the fourth co-host, he ultimately opted out of joining them.

“He ghosted us,” Fishel told Variety in 2023.

Friedle echoed during the same interview, “He disappeared — I wish I knew why, to this day. We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity. He just woke up one day, and decided, ‘I don’t want this person in my life anymore.’”

Boy Meets World aired for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000. In 2014, the spinoff Girl Meets World premiered. It aired for three seasons before ending in 2017.
