Looks like Mika Kleinschmidt will follow up her run on Battle on the Beach by taking on a fun new project with her husband, Brian Kleinschmidt.
In a Friday, July 3, Instagram post, Brian revealed that he and Mika are currently working on a special project for HGTV. “Top Secret HGTV Project!!!” he wrote. “We can’t SAY a word…but this picture SAYS it all.”
The post featured an illustrated photo of Brian and Mika dressed in ’80s/’90s fashion, making a shush gesture with their index fingers over their mouths. The backdrop of the photo was a fake version of New York City’s Times Square, featuring billboards with slang such as “no diggity,” “oh snap,” “that’s tight,” and “word up.”
Fans reacted to the exciting news, as well as shared their predictions for the project, in the post’s comments. “More important…When did Brian get his ear pierced? Just kidding. I can’t wait!!” one user joked, referring to Brian’s frosted tips and pierced ear in the picture. Another guessed, “You two look like Zach and Lisa from Saved By The Bell – definitely something 90s.”
Someone else shared, “OH MY WORD!! YOU’RE REMODELING A NYC HOTEL.” A different person posted, “Can’t wait to find out what it is. Love you two.” A separate commenter stated, “Can’t wait for the reveal:)!”
Several HGTV stars also shared their excitement for the couple’s new project. “Hahaha yesssss!” wrote Jasmine Roth, while Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama commented, “So fun!” Jenny Marrs gushed, “Love it!” Ty Pennington exclaimed, “So rad!!!”
Brian and Mika are no strangers to themed shows on HGTV, as they won the design competition series Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge in 2023. The show followed teams of HGTV stars as they transformed a home into a real-life version of Barbie’s iconic dollhouse.
Brian and Mika have been HGTV staples ever since their flagship series, 100 Day Dream Home, premiered in 2020. The couple has appeared on many of the network’s shows in the years since, including Home Town Kickstart, Rock the Block, and 100 Day Hotel Challenge. They are also the designers behind HGTV’s 2026 Smart Home.
Mika currently serves as a mentor alongside Pennington and Sarah Baeumler in Season 5 of Battle on the Beach. The series follows the HGTV pros as they help teams of design duos renovate run-down beach rental properties.
“I [did] have moments of wanting to take my microphone off and be like, ‘Hold up a second, wait a second.’ But it wasn’t, like, a breakdown,” she exclusively told TV Insider about taking on the role ahead of the show’s June return. “But you know why I think so? Because it was interesting how they paired each of us up with our teams. I don’t know if it was strategic, but I feel like as mentors, we had to learn real quick because there was similarities, but not really.”
She continued, “I feel like my team was quiet, calm. I’m like, ‘That is not me.’ And so, it was interesting how we had to take that mentor thing and go, ‘Hold on. What do they need from me instead of me trying to be my normal, 100%, bossy self?’ That was hard, I’m not gonna lie.”
