Jackson Bates wishes his mom Kelly a happy birthday.

This past week, Bringing Up Bates star Kelly Jo Bates celebrated her birthday. On social media, she reposted the many sweet text messages and social media posts she received from her kids and other loved ones. In an Instagram Story post, she shared a screenshot of a text message she received from her 20-year-old son, Jackson. He gushed over his mom and said that she is “one of the greatest examples of Christ in my life.”

Below, you can see the whole text message Jackson sent to her.

The photo of Jackson’s message to Kelly Jo was reposted on Reddit. There, fans discussed the lack of punctuation throughout the birthday tribute. Despite sending his mom a lengthy birthday shoutout, Jackson didn’t use any commas, periods, or exclamation points. So, the whole message was a long run-on sentence.

One fan commented, “SOTDRT,” which stands for “school of the dining room table” and is a joke that is used on Reddit to discuss the Bates’ education. Others chimed in and said that his homeschool education was to blame. Someone else commented, “This does not read like a 20-year-old wrote it.”

However, a few fans pointed out that he might have just used speech-to-text to send it. If so, he would have had to specifically say the words “comma” or “period” if he wanted his phone to add any punctuation to the text message. One Bringing Up Bates fan said, “I assume it was a rambling speech to text… just reads that way to me.”

Another chimed in, “100% written using voice to text while driving, zero proofreading before sending.”

So, do you think Jackson Bates’ lack of punctuation is a sign of poor education, or do you think he simply used the speech-to-text feature on his phone? What do you think of Gil and Kelly Jo’s decision to homeschool their kids? Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and come back to TV Shows Ace for more Bates family news.
