Candace Owens recently spoke out after becoming the center of an online hoax. In particular, the story claimed that she had passed away. In addition, a person connected to the original viral story has also spoken out about what is going on.

Candace Owens’ Death Was Reported In A Since-Deleted Post On X

Owens is a political commentator and author. After previously working for PragerU, she joined The Daily Wire in 2021, hosting her own namesake talk show, Candace.

Owens left the outlet in 2024. Following this, she has since run her own independent YouTube channel.

Recently, Owens had become the subject of death rumors after podcaster Lilly Gaddis’ account appeared to tweet about her passing. As she wrote in the since-deleted post, “Candace Owen’s family reached out to me earlier this morning; it is with deep sadness and sorrow that I am sharing the passing of my longtime friend and fellow political commentator, Candace.”

At the time, the post mused that there could be more to the story. As it continued, “But I also can’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t simply a random tragedy. There are circumstances surrounding Candace’s death, especially after Charlie’s [Kirk] passing, that raise serious questions, and I hope the full truth comes to light.”

Lilly Gaddis Later Shared An Explanation As To What Happened Prior To Owens’ Own Response

The post concluded by saying that some details were being kept under wraps out of respect for Owens’ family. As it read, “I want to respect the family’s privacy, so I will refrain from sharing any further details. Please stay posted.”

However, Owens herself took to social media to debunk the story, assuring that she was still alive. As she wrote in response, “Thank you all for the messages of concern, but I am not dead.”

Owens also shared a few words after the original post compared her alleged passing to that of Charlie Kirk’s. As she wrote, “Somewhat relatedly, Charlie Kirk was not concerned he was going to be killed by a transgendered furry after a full day of arguing with Zionists about him abandoning the pro-Israel cause. Hope this helps.” As previously reported, Kirk, known for co-founding Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while at an event at Utah Valley University.

Shortly before Owens’ response, Gaddis herself claimed that her account had been hacked. Sharing that she was seeking to fix it, she also noted that only two people have access to her account. Gaddis had also written, “Can anyone tell me how this is happening? I didn’t post this?,” while sharing a screenshot of the original post.
