Carson Daly first caught attention as host of MTV’s Total Request Live. He hosted the video request show for five years before leaving in 2003. He reportedly returned to his old stomping ground last month to film a TRL anniversary special. Now, he’s landed a major new gig amid his impending exit from The Voice after 15 years. Keep reading for more details on the exciting new role.
Carson Daly Lands Major New Gig After Leaving The Voice
Carson Daly confirmed over the summer that the current season of The Voice is his last. Actress Keke Palmer will replace him for Season 31 in early 2027. His departure came as a surprise. He’s hosted the show since the beginning. However, the show is going in a new direction with a celebrity edition next year.

The former MTV host already had a job to fall back on. He joined the Today Show in 2013 as a social media correspondent. His role has expanded over the years. He’s now a regular fixture on the show’s fourth hour alongside Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer after Sheinelle Jones moved to the fourth hour.
Carson Daly’s position at the Today Show just got upgraded. Savannah Guthrie announced on Thursday’s show that he’s been promoted to a permanent position on the news program’s weekend show.
“If you’ve been watching Saturday Today, you may have seen this dynamic duo at the desk together,” Savannah Guthrie said about Carson Daly and Laura Jarrett. “Carson Daly is now the official co-anchor,” she announced.

The anchors raised a glass of Guinness to celebrate the exciting news. “You know how much I love you, you’re like a brother to me,” Savannah Guthrie told Carson. She visited him on the set of The Voice over the summer on the way to England to film the upcoming Wordle game show.
“At my age and at my stage in my career, to have an opportunity to come in and sit next to Laura and to learn and to get better at my job, to be the best broadcaster I can, is not something I take lightly,” Carson Daly said about his new role.
