What begins as a hunt for a serial killer quickly becomes something far more personal and complicated in Hulu’s Furious.
Created by New Girl producer and writer Liz Meriwether, the eight-episode psychological crime thriller follows Alice Black (Emmy Rossum), a traumatized former NYPD detective-turned-FBI agent who is pulled into the search for Catherine (Lola Petticrew), a calculating killer targeting men linked to her own traumatic past.
But Catherine’s carefully chosen victims make this anything but a straightforward serial killer case. As Alice digs deeper into the murders and the woman behind them, the investigation forces her to confront uncomfortable questions about justice, guilt, and how far someone can go before the line between right and wrong disappears entirely.

Was Furious renewed for a second season?
As of August 2026, the Hulu crime thriller has not been officially renewed for a second season. The first season premiered on July 27, 2026, and its eight-episode run is scheduled to conclude with the finale on August 31, 2026.
Showrunner Meriwether has expressed interest in more seasons, though. Talking to The Wrap, she said, “I do feel like one of the best things about TV is getting time with characters, and getting years with characters, and being able to dig in… So I’m hoping that we get more seasons of [Furious]. And as a huge fan of [Law & Order:] SVU, I feel like this show kind of exists in that world of like, there’s other cases they can tackle.”

Loosely inspired by the 1987 thriller Black Widow, the crime drama series Furious follows former cop-turned-FBI agent Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) as she hunts Catherine Grace (Lola Petticrew), a calculated female serial killer targeting wealthy men for reasons tied to her past as a sex worker.
As the cat-and-mouse chase continues, the two women’s lives intertwine, and themes of justice, vengeance, as well as right and wrong, begin to blur.
