Lantners will officially premiere on Sunday, August 16, 2026, on HBO with episodes streaming on HBO Max. The eight-episode season will take viewers on a journey every week as the show unfolds.

Lanterns follows new recruit, John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops who are drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Who makes Lanterns?
The HBO project, made in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, hails from cocreators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, who co-wrote the pilot. Mundy serves as the showrunner and executive produces the show alongside Lindelof, King, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Ron Schmidt, and James Hawes, who directed the first two episodes.
