The Inside the NBA crew broke into hysterics on Monday night (June 8) after Charles Barkley made a NSFW quip about Cardi B that quickly went viral across social media.

As the “WAP” rapper performed her halftime show during the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs Game 3 of the NBA Finals, host Ernie Johnson commented, “Knicks up seven, looking for a 3-0 lead. We’ve been competing with Cardi B here.”

“We lost,” Barkley joked as footage of Cardi’s performance was shown on screen. He then made his off-color quip, saying, “I don’t know if those Bs. They might be Cardi Ds.”

Barkley’s cohosts broke into laughter as he continued, “I’m pretty sure those aren’t Bs. She has the wrong initials.”

“I don’t know who said that, but I know it wasn’t me,” Johnson said.

The clip was shared across social media, including on the official Barstool Sports X account, where it currently has 2.7 million views and 40,000 likes.

Fans jumped into the comments to react, with one X user writing, “I’d pay an unreasonable amount of money to see the B roll of Shaq when that was said.”

“Chuck just casually upgraded her to Cardi D’s mid broadcast. Man said the quiet part loud as hell. Legend,” said another.

“Who’s laughing like that? That’s so diabolical,” another added.

Another wrote, “Never change Charles, never change.”

“Unc has lost all composure,” one commenter joked.

“Only Chuck can say something that wild and still be loved for it,” another added.

“Only Charles Barkley can roast somebody that clean during a live game and make the whole timeline lose it. Legend behavior right there,” one user wrote.

However, not everyone was on board with Barkley’s jokes. “The man is a grown adult on national television reducing a performer to her body like it’s 1995. It’s not funny, it’s not clever, it’s just sad,” wrote one X commenter.

“What exactly were they laughing about, Cardi is a queen. She’s one not to be joked with,” said another.

“This sucks to be honest. We are not in 1990 bruh!” another added.

As for Cardi herself, she appeared to embrace Barkley’s quip. The Grammy-winning artist reshared a clip from a fan account showing “Cardi D” trending at No. 7 on Monday night.
