The Chrisley family is known for having opinions and sharing them online and on TV. Now, Chase Chrisley is opening up about something very close to his heart – the use of drugs. Apparently, the star lost a friend due to an overdose, and now he’s doing something about it. Keep reading to find out what he had to say and why he cares so much.
Chase Chrisley Passionate About Drug Scene
Chase Chrisley did a deep dive on the use of drugs after one of his friends died seemingly because of a lack of understanding. Apparently, people like Chase’s friend are dying because they don’t fully understand what they are taking. Chase just shared a new video in which he says that 7-OH, or 7-hydroxymitragynine, occurs in small amounts in kratom. However, sometimes, with commercially produced products, there is a much higher amount. That means the person taking what they believe to be kratom ends up taking way more 7-OH than they think – which, in the case of his friend, ends up being fatal.
“This issue is deeply personal for me. I lost a friend after he overdosed on a 7-0H product, and it completely changed how I view the conversation surrounding kr*tom and 7-0H,” he starts off a heartfelt caption to go alongside the in-depth video.
He continues, explaining that there needs to be a distinction between Kratom and ‘synthetic 7-OH products.’
“I believe there needs to be a clear distinction between natural kr*tom and synthetic 7-0H products. Kr*tom naturally contains trace amounts of 7-0H, but concentrated products can be a very different thing and confusing the two can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences,” he continues to write on Instagram.
Committing Himself To Learn
It seems that this whole situation has been very eye-opening for the star, who also used to struggle with alcohol. Now, he plans to educate himself so that he can help people make better decisions in the future.
“I’m committed to continuing to learn about the science, what’s being sold, how these products are marketed, and the potential dangers so that people can make informed decisions,” he writes.

Of course, Chase had a chorus of people in the comments singing his praises for commenting on something that could be controversial. Everyone seems pretty proud of the reality TV star and encourages him to take his studies even further.
