- Chicago Fire Season 15 will introduce several new probational firefighters.
- These additions come as Joe Miñoso and Dermot Mulroney will be exiting early on in the fall.
Chicago Fire may be saying goodbye to a couple characters in the early part of Season 15, but there will be some new faces joining 51.
“We on Chicago Fire have a bunch of new probies [probational firefighters], so that is very exciting for us, and I know the audience is going to love them,” Jocelyn Hudon, who plays paramedic Novak, told E!.
Chicago Fire left off with quite the major cliffhanger: Almost all of Firehouse 51 was in serious danger on a call, with the fire getting out of control for both those inside the building and those on the ladder outside. Novak was one of three major characters — along with fellow paramedic Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and former battalion chief Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), just in town visiting — safe outside. The finale seemed to be foreshadowing someone possibly dying, and we’ll have to wait until the premiere to find out if everyone makes it.

However, we already know that Mulroney is just back for one episode, in which Pascal will be written out. Also leaving, after a “handful of episodes,” is Joe Miñoso, who has played Joe Cruz since the beginning of the series. But the latter’s episode count seems to confirm that Cruz will not die in that fire. Pascal’s fate, however, could very well be up in the air because he could always run in to help his former firefighters.
Hudon’s tease reveals that there will be more than one new firefighter at 51 this season, but all we know about so far is the new series regular played by Da’Vinchi. His character, Marcus Burke, is a new firefighter candidate at 51 described as “roguish and funny with a wry sense of humor, and also a little defiant.”
It should be interesting to see how Marcus as well as these other probies fit in at 51 after the shakeups at the beginning of the season — whether someone dies in that fire or not. If 51 is mourning one of their own, that “defiant” attitude of Marcus’ may rub some people the wrong way.
