A The Price Is Right contestant had a wild reaction after winning a car that resulted in a split, a cartwheel, and jumping up and down in her new prize. See host Drew Carey‘s reaction.
Carin Van Hook, a dancer from Atlanta, Georgia, won the third item up for bid on May 26. Her game and celebration were reposted to The Price Is Right‘s Instagram page on July 9. “Just so you know the enthusiasm is appreciated,” the post was captioned.
Van Hook bid $1,500 on 14-karat yellow gold jewelry. She won because she was closest to the actual retail price and got to come to the stage to play a game for another prize.
The game show contestant played 10 Chances for a chance to win Midland walkie-talkies, as well as an 11-inch laptop, Office DEPOT screen cleaning spray, a mouse and printer, and a 2026 Mazda 3 Select Sport.
All Van Hook had to do was correctly guess the prices of the three prizes in 10 tries, hence the name 10 Chances. She was given a certain number of numbers and had to use one less for each round to correctly guess them. However, the car prize used all five numbers given, but not in the right order.
When announcer George Gray told Van Hook that she could win a new car, the contestant tapped her feet on the floor excitedly, spun in a circle, did a cartwheel, and then a dance where she moved her shoulders in a circle.
“Look at you go!” host Drew Carey said.
The numbers in the walkie-talkies were zero, five, and eight. Van Hook first went with 85 and was wrong. They then picked 80 and won it, moving on to the next prize.
In the laptop package, the numbers were zero, seven, nine, and six. Van Hook went with $970, which was also wrong. However, she chose 670 for her second pick and was right, winning that.
This gave her six chances to try to win the car. The numbers for the car were six, two, seven, zero, and eight. Van Hook first guessed $26,807, which was wrong. For her second try, she wrote $26,870, and she was correct, winning all three prizes.
When Carey said she was right, Van Hook dropped down and did a split, throwing her hands up above her head. When Van Hook got into the car, she pretended to turn the steering wheel and jumped up and down in the seat. The contestant spun a 120 on the Showcase wheel, so she did not advance to the Showcase.
“This was so much fun!!!” Van Hook wrote on Instagram.
“Oh good grief, a cartwheel and a split?! Lol. Can’t do that no more! Glad she won!” a fan commented.
“Congratulations! What a win that was,” another said.
“So fun to watch! Congrats on playing 10 Chances perfectly,” a fourth added.
