Former Dancing With The Stars contestant Anne Heche passed away on August 12 after a fiery car accident the week before. On the morning of August 5, a Mini Cooper crashed into a home in the Mar Vista neighborhood in Los Angeles. The house caught fire and authorities declared it a total loss. Thankfully, the homeowner and her pets escaped with their lives. But the driver, revealed to be Anne Heche, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Heche was in a coma in the hospital for a week before finally passing away. Now, her former Dancing With The Stars castmates are remembering their time with the late actress fondly.
Anne Heche touched the lives of her former DWTS castmates
Many DWTS cast members were incredibly surprised to hear about the accident in the first place. Several pro dancers posted in their Instagram stories that their thoughts and prayers were with Anne Heche during her hospital stay.
ET had the opportunity to speak with her partner Keo Motsepe earlier this week, just after the crash.
“Anne was my partner on DWTS for Season 29. We became close friends and my heart breaks for her and her family over this terrible accident,” Keo told the publication. He went on to say he was praying for her to make a full recovery. Sadly, that didn’t come to pass.
After the news of the actress’s death broke, Keo posted a short but sweet tribute on his Instagram page.
“I love you @anneheche,” he wrote. The pair came in 13th place out of 15 couples, so they weren’t around for many weeks. But even so, it appears that Keo and Anne had a great time behind the scenes. The dancer uploaded several photos of the two joking around with Mickey Mouse hands.
“She was such a pure human,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba wrote on Keo’s post.
“💔 heart breaking” added Emma Slater.
Plenty of other fans and followers echoed similar sentiments in the comments.
DWTS cast members say their time with the actress was “special”
Carrie Ann Inaba shared a touching tribute to the late Anne Heche on her own Instagram page as well.
“I’ve been thinking of [Anne Heche] since her accident last week and like many of you, my heart is heavy…” she wrote in the post. “Anne was one of the stars on @dancingwiththestars that truly touched my heart. Her personal story was one that reached into my heart and squeezed it. I could feel the pain she felt, and I could also feel her resilient and courageous soul. And it was touching.”
Carrie Ann went on to talk about how she felt connected to Anne during her brief run on DWTS.
“Every time she performed, there was a sense of complete joy and a celebration of life. It was pure. And it was special.✨❤️”
