Dancing with the Stars kicked off with a new season this week. Of course, the show was full of fabulous dancing and sparkly costumes, but one moment stood out. Derek Hough accidentally called Tyler Cameron by the wrong name. However, he seems to be handling it well. Keep reading to find out what happened and how Derek is handling it all.
A New Season Of Dancing with the Stars
This week was very exciting for DWTS fans as the cast of the newest season has taken the stage. One of those contestants is former Bachelorette star Tyler Cameron. Tyler’s appearance was announced just weeks ago, and he made his dancing debut this week. He did pretty well considering his lack of dancing background. Tyler did the tango with pro Sharna Burgess. Sharna is back after a five-year break, making this performance even more exciting.
Luckily, Derek Hough had some good things to say about the reality TV star. It sounds like he could have a promising season ahead of him.
“You’re cool, masculine, just effortless,” Derek says. “For me, the frame, aw mate, we got to expand it. Marrying your presence with the technique, the frame, the posture, you’re going to be fantastic.”
That’s not all he said, though. He actually accidentally called Tyler by the wrong name.
Derek Hough Messes Up
While Derek seems to be into Tyler’s dancing, he unfortunately did call him by the wrong name. Instead of calling him Tyler, he called him Dylan. However, instead of getting embarrassed, he leaned into it and made a whole video for Instagram.
In the video, he goes around to different stars of the show and calls them by the wrong name. He even plays up his misuse of words in the caption.
“Dad Brian, I mean Brain🤣 @dancingwiththestars #dwts,” he writes in the post.
Needless to say, fans totally loved how he handled the situation. Several took to the comments to praise him and laugh alongside him for his mess-up.

While the name mix-up was all fun and games, two dancers did end up going home. Conner Leavitt went home on night one while Sarah Jane Nader went home on night two. Only time will tell who goes home next.
