As an actress, Rinna became known to many for playing Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives. She also played Taylor McBride on Melrose Place. Her background in soaps later helped her become the host of the Soapnet talk show Soap Talk.
Rinna has also had a prominent career in reality television, having starred on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Other reality shows she has appeared on include The Celebrity Apprentice, Dancing with the Stars, and The Traitors.
Rinna also isn’t a novice to the stage. She made her Broadway debut in Chicago, playing Roxie Hart, in 2007. However, she recently took an interesting route to campaign for another role on stage: the title role in Broadway’s Tony Award-winning play, Oh, Mary!
The comedy play revolves around the lives of Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln. The story takes place during the days leading up to the couple seeing a fateful production of Our American Cousin at Ford’s Theatre, in which Lincoln’s assassination takes place. A few notable figures have also appeared in the show, including Maya Rudolph, Bowen Yang, Jinkx Monsoon, and Jane Krakowski.

For her part, Rinna recently took to TikTok to express her desire to join the cast. In the video, she shared, “So, I would like to play Mary Todd Lincoln. You know Mary. And we’re pushing for it, but I don’t think they think I can do it. And so I want you to know that it’s something that I would like to do. And we’re trying to manifest it and make it happen, but I don’t think that they — being the casting directors — I don’t think they think I can actually do it.”
Rinna acknowledged that she might not get the part, but she felt nothing would be gained if she didn’t at least try. She shared, “I was thinking today, as an actor, you don’t get 99% of everything that comes around, but maybe 1%. And so how do you get that 1%? I think it’s so fascinating when someone doesn’t see you as something, but you see yourself that way. I’m trying to figure it out without taking it personally and giving up.”
