With her prolific career, Drew Barrymore has encountered a number of famous stars. However, she recently encountered a famous actor who was surprised that they hadn’t really met beforehand. In fact, she learned that he actually wanted to meet her for quite some time.
Drew Barrymore Recently Received A Surprising Admission During An Episode Of Her Talk Show
Drew started her career as an actress at a young age with the 1982 sci-fi classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Over the years, she became known for a number of films, including Never Been Kissed, Charlie’s Angels, Ever After, The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Scream.
In 2020, Barrymore launched her own daily syndicated talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show. Back in March, the series was renewed for a seventh and eighth season, meaning it will run through the 2027–2028 television season.

During a recent episode of her talk show, Drew spoke with actor Ethan Hawke. With the two both being young stars in the ’90s, he shared that he was surprised that they never got to know each other. In fact, he felt that they should have gone out.
Hawke shared, “I don’t think I can remember a time in my life when I was not aware of you.” This caused Barrymore to share, “That’s how I feel about you!”
It was then that Hawke admitted, “What I can’t believe is that we never dated, you know?” While this gave the audience a good laugh, Barrymore asked, “Where were you?!”
Ethan Hawke Admitted He Would Go To Parties Hoping To Meet Barrymore
Barrymore continued, “And, by the way, what me and every other girl on the planet would have given to date you. Where the hell were you?!”
Hawke then confirmed that he often thought about her. He shared, “There was many a night, when I would — it must have been circa the ’90s — I’d be going to a party, and I’d think, ‘Maybe Drew will be there.’”
Barrymore then collapsed on the couch. She asked, “Why didn’t you call me? We still had phones back then.” Hawke replied, “You know, I like to play it cool. I wanted it to happen organically. I thought, you know, something magical would happen.” Barrymore joked that “nothing” happened, causing Hawke to comment that at least they were “meeting on a talk show.”
As an actor, Hawke is known for his roles in Dead Poets Society, Reality Bites, and Before Sunrise. More recently, he became known for the crime drama series The Lowdown.
