What happened with Ariana Madix‘s shoes on Dancing With The Stars last night?
At first glance, many viewers probably didn’t notice anything wrong with her footwear. But once she and her partner Pasha Pashkov completed their routine, show hostess Julianne Hough pointed the shoes out to the cameras. Most ballroom performances feature high heels. But Ariana Madix wore something very different for the routine.

Motown Night was incredibly exciting and full of surprises. Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov have been working incredibly hard in the ballroom, and their scores reflected it.
They scored a 34/40 for their Quickstep to “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes, receiving two 8s and two 9s for their routine. And although they certainly dressed the part, Ariana’s flat shoes can be spotted in photos from the evening.
What’s the story behind them?
ET caught up with Ariana Madix before Tuesday night’s performance to talk about the show. Injuries aren’t uncommon on DWTS. Sadly, it seems like the Vanderpump Rules star has suffered a few. The flat shoes could have a lot to do with that.
“Oh, they hurt! The feet hurt, I’m not going to lie,” she told the publication. When ET asked if she would be okay, Ariana simply replied, “TBD.”
However, Ariana didn’t let the pain show through during her performance. She and Pasha managed to land the top spot on the leaderboard for the night, tied with Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach.
“Honestly, not going to lie, it feels great,” the reality star gleefully told ET. “Ultimately when it’s time to perform, I gotta perform.”
In all likelihood, the costume department gave her shoes without heels so she could successfully complete the routine.
Will these injuries impact her participation?
While many Dancing With The Stars contestants sustain injuries, sometimes it gets so bad that participants drop out. With Ariana’s success so far, it would be a shame to lose her at this point in the competition.
But even on social media, she’s hinted at her pain. On Instagram, she shared a photo of her bandaged foot. The caption read, “Ninja turtle inspired blister protection🥷🏼🐢”
Although she shared the photo in good fun, it seems like her foot injuries might really be bothering her now. Hopefully, she will be able to stay in the competition.
