Guillermo Rodriguez has really won fans’ hearts over the years, from Jimmy Kimmel Live! to Dancing with the Stars. In fact, for many, he’s already the star of the competition show’s latest season. Thanks to this, some fans are wondering if Rodriguez had a female foil of sorts considering the show’s history.
Guillermo Rodriguez Joined Dancing With The Stars In Season 35 Alongside Witney Carson
Rodriguez became known to many on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he plays Kimmel’s sidekick of sorts. He previously worked as a security guard for the show’s parking lot.
Over the years, Rodriguez has established himself as a media personality of sorts. Most recently, he’s joined Dancing with the Stars for Season 35, being paired with Witney Carson.
For many, Guillermo has proven to be a fan favorite of the season, with a lot of fans loving his humor and energy. In fact, some of his critics this season have not been without criticism themselves.
Taking to the show’s Reddit account, while watching Guillermo on the show, one fan noticed that he stands apart from the other contestants. As they put it, he’s “goofy,” yet “lovable,” and “a little older than the younger contestants.”
This caused the fan to muse that “while those late-night talk shows often have sidekicks, both the host and the sidekick are almost always men. Still.” This made them wonder if Dancing with the Stars has ever had a female “star” who held this role.
A Few Fans Even Suggested Stars They Hope Would Join The Show As Guillermo’s Female Foil
The fan shared, “I’m trying to think of a female celeb who has been on DWTS who filled a similar role, and who had that kind of support from viewers who found them charming. I know Guillermo has a built-in fan base, but I don’t think that was entirely true of Andy–I think Emma really knew how to showcase him so that viewers of DWTS thought he was charming. And voted for him for weeks.”
Taking to the comments, fans suggested a number of past examples who could count in the role. A few emphasized a few of the qualities the original fan used to describe Guillermo.
Of course, a few fans also suggested a few stars that could join the show in the future. Some comments included:
- “She was neither charming or funny, but Kate Gosselins fans kept her on way longer than she should have been there. In fact she was miserable, didn’t even try to learn how to dance, and apparently a raging witch to her pro, but kept getting saved by the votes.”
- “Closest example I can say is Cloris Leachman but she honestly if her pro didn’t heavily focus on making her a novelty act would eat them both up dance wise….”
- “Kirstie Alley was 60 when she did season 12 and 61 when she was on season 15 (Allstars.)”
- “Patti Labelle is another one. She was there for quite a while because I remember her in the team dance that season.”
- “Betsey Johnson maybe? She was on S19. She was super flexible tho and would just kind of do the splits and let Tony carry her around.”
- “I feel like Ina Garten would be a phenomenon similar to Guillermo and Andy.”
