Plus, she has been a staple in the ballroom since Season 35 began, as she and her pro partner, Alan Bersten, grew incredibly close during their time together. Unfortunately, Alan was voted off with Giada De Laurentiis, so that was a tough blow. Regardless, Ilona and Alan are still there for the other pros and stars, making sure they feel seen.
On a recent episode, the camera panned to Ilona, who was sitting between Andy Richter and Alan. She ended up making what seemed to be an obscene hand gesture on the screen as she pointed to Andy and Alan. Quickly, Ilona grabbed her face in embarrassment and appeared to hide. As it turned out, this was not sexual in any form, but rather a way for her to promote a podcast appearance.

On the DWTS podcast, Andy Richter addressed it with Ilona Maher:
“We’re there to promote the podcast coming up and we were all like doing gestures and things and you did a gesture of a microphone.”
She admitted that she was trying to do the microphone, but it came off completely wrong:
“I was holding a microphone and talking into a microphone.”
After being teased about what happened, she reiterated that this was all about the podcast. However, she did catch herself, but by that time it was too late:
“What did I just do there? I am holding a microphone and I’m talking into it because that’s what we were going to do here today.”
