Dancing With The Stars is one of ABC’s most popular reality shows. Celebrities pair up with a pro dancer to hopefully win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. However, fans slammed one pro for stealing the spotlight from their celeb partner amid a desire for a Broadway role. Keep reading to find out what has viewers upset.

DWTS Pro Slammed For Stealing Spotlight From Celeb Partner

Season 35 of DWTS premiered in September. There are only seven celebrities left after several shocking eliminations. Actress Julia Stiles was the latest to go home amid a disappointing Disney Night routine.

But the 10s were aplenty for several other couples. Jenna Johnson and Harry Shum Jr. received a perfect score for their Jazz routine to the iconic “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins. However, viewers at home felt that the choreography focused too much on Jenna and not her celebrity partner.

  • “why was the end of the dance just jenna doing a solo”
  • “Our Jenna Berry and her star-like antics”
  • “And technically speaking it was a weak solo.”
  • “Val and Jenna always make everything about them omg the narcissism”
  • “i’m furious harry was robbed of a different partner.”
  • “She wants the Chicago call Whitney got last season”
  • “It’s always the Jenna and Val show”

The same complaint has been made about Jenna Johnson for several years now. Several viewers speculated that the Jazz routine was Jenna Johnson’s audition for Broadway.

Jenna Johnson Admits Broadway Is Her ‘Dream’

Harry Shum Jr. has a real chance at winning Season 35. But Jenna Johnson has her eye on a much bigger role. Broadway is full of trained professionals, but the Great White Way loves a good stunt casting. The role of Roxie in Chicago is particularly popular for celebrities. Vanderpump Rules‘ Ariana Madix, soap star Lisa Rinna, and Pamela Anderson are just a few who have filled the character’s heels.

Whitney Leavitt, who competed on Season 34 of DWTS, was offered the role of Roxie after she was eliminated. Some fans speculated that Jenna Johnson is waiting for the same phone call. She opened up about her Broadway dreams.

“That is my dream,” Jenna Johnson told E! News after Disney Night. “That’s why tonight was also really special. It’s been a dream of mine. I obviously haven’t had the time to really go there, but this felt like a dream come true.”

Harry Shum Jr. encouraged DWTS viewers to campaign to make Jenna’s dream come true. “Also, she can sing,” he said. “Like when she’s in rehearsals, she sings too. And I hear a little bit,” he said about her possible Broadway future.

Jenna Johnson revealed that Chicago was her dream, but didn’t share which role. Her Broadway debut may have to wait because she’s already signed up as part of the 2027 DWTS Live Tour. Do you agree that her choreography focuses on herself too much or are some viewers just haters?
