Online sports betting is immensely popular. However, current players are strictly banned from betting on games. Those same rules apparently don’t apply to Dancing With The Stars. Several pros are under fire after placing bets on which Season 35 celebrity will go home next. Keep reading for all the details on the situation.
DWTS Pros Under Fire For Placing Bets On Eliminations
Dancing With The Stars is six weeks into a new season. The celebrities left are in hot competition for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. Witney Carson and Guillermo Rodriguez were the last couple eliminated. The show skipped an elimination for this week’s emotional Dedication Night.

This week was filled with drama even without an elimination. Val Chmerkovskiy was suspended for the night after making a questionable social media post about Carrie Ann Inaba. But the real drama was happening on a sports betting site.
Several former pros were called out by fans for promoting the betting app Kalshi by sharing their picks for the next celebrity eliminated. Maks Chmerkovskiy and his wife Peta Murgatroyd both promoted the app on social media. Sasha Farber and Gleb Savchenko also spotlighted Kalshi. Fans took to Reddit to share their disappointment with the former pros, none of whom were asked back for Season 35.

- “Tacky”
- “lowkey so embarrassing to do this”
- “BOOOOO”
- “This gets a big YUCK from me.”
- “yeah this is weird and tacky”
- “SASHA……..not you too?!”
- “That’s so mean-spirited”
- “This is sooooo trashy. And Sasha! We thought you were better than this smh”
- “Please take away all their phones!!! I’m tired!!!!!”
One fan pointed out that the former pros were paid to promote the betting app, which made it even worse.
Who Is Predicted To Leave Next & Season 35 Winner?
The competition on DWTS is getting tighter as the celebrities are sent home one by one. There might be a double elimination next week since no one was eliminated this week. If there had been, who would have gone home?
Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd both posted bets for Jackson Olson and Emma Slater as the next departure. The Savannah Bananas player has fought off elimination so far despite scoring on the lower end of the leaderboard. He also faced backlash for insulting Guillermo Rodriguez.

The Kalshi app doesn’t just take bets on the losers. Another option is to bet on the Season 35 winner. So, who is in the lead on the betting app for winning the Mirrorball Trophy? Paralympian Ezra Frech has landed near the top of the leaderboard every week. He’s the favorite celebrity to win, despite two competitors with prior dance experience.
We’re past Season 35’s halfway point. With just four episodes left until the season finale in November, it’s still anyone’s game. Tell us in the comments if you think it’s tacky for former pros to bet on the current season.
