Many have followed Elizabeth Smart’s story through dark and hopeful times. In fact, she has continued to share her life with followers. In one share, she expressed people she wanted to thank in spite of a recent setback.

Elizabeth Smart Has Explored A New Venture Over The Past Few Months

Smart first found herself the subject of national attention after her 2002 abduction when she was 14 years old. Since then, she has worked as an advocate and activist. In 2011, ABC News announced that she would work as a commentator, working with a focus on missing persons.

Since then, Smart has been part of a number of ventures. In 2021, she competed on The Masked Dancer as “Moth,” finishing eighth overall during its sole season.

Recently, Smart has also started a bodybuilding career over the past few months. She reflected on losing a competition in a recent Instagram post.

Smart had competed in the National Physique Committee’s North American Championships in Pittsburgh during the first week of September. In the recent share, Smart included a video of herself posing while wearing a blue bikini and high heels.

Taking her loss gracefully, Smart shared that she enjoyed the experience. She expressed, “Another show for the books! Had such a blast. I’ve always said ‘just stepping onstage is a win for me!’ And I completely stand by that.”

Smart Was Still Proud Of Her Performance In Spite Of Her Loss

Smart didn’t forget and was very grateful to the people who helped her prepare for the big event. She continued, “Regardless of where I placed, I loved the whole experience, had an amazing coach [Robyn Maher], got to step onstage with my best friend [Mackenzie Paralee Holsombake] and had the best support squad in the audience I could ask for.”

In spite of her loss, Smart was still proud of how far she’s come and set her eyes on the future. She expressed, “I brought a better physique and stage presence than at my previous shows, and I’m so proud of myself for the hard work, discipline and bravery it takes me to compete. So, here’s to pursuing goals and not giving up!”

In the comments, Smart continued to receive support from fans and followers. A few other bodybuilders also shared their own stories with her. Some comments included:

  • “I did my first and only show at the age of 47! It was terrifying but I did it for me. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it and I’m so glad I did.”
  • “Beautiful. Defined. But not overdone. You still look feminine. You don’t look like a guy in a bikini!”
  • “I just did my second show a few weeks ago, and I owe that to you. You are a powerhouse of inspiration for survivors. My body got me through a shooting and I decided, instead of giving up, I’d celebrate being alive.”
  • “So proud of you, what a way to reclaim your body! Thank you for continuing to share your story.”
  • “This is actually one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. You are such an inspiration already and then This!!!”
