Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Has Already Spent Months Atop The Billboard Hot 100
Langley is a songwriter and singer signed to Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records. She is known for her hits including “You Look Like You Love Me,” “Weren’t for the Wind,” and “Choosin’ Texas.”
Recently, “Choosin’ Texas” just celebrated its 17th nonconsecutive week atop the Billboard Hot 100. This gives Langley the fourth-longest run in the chart’s history.
Thanks to this, the song has been getting a lot of attention on social media and pop culture. In fact, it recently became part of a viral moment on The Tonight Show.
As part of the show’s long-running Audience Suggestion Box bit, host Jimmy Fallon shared the following request: “Hey Jimmy, I love that song ‘Choosin’ Texas by Ella Langley and I’m really excited to see Matthew McConaughey’s new movie, The Rivals of Amziah King, where he performs in a bluegrass band. If there was only a way to combine those things that would be a dream come true.”
Matthew McConaughey, The Last Bison, & The Tonight Show Recently Came Together To Give Langley A Big Tribute
Curtains parted, revealing McConaughey was playing mandolin alongside indie folk trio The Last Bison, with Fallon strumming along on a washboard. McConaughey drawled, Just when I thought I got him to fall in love with Tennessee/ Shoulda known better than to take him to Abiliene.” However, the whole band, Fallon included, came together to croon the “She’s from Texas I can tell” chorus.
Langley herself later responded to the moment on social media. When The Tonight Show shared the moment on Instagram, she shared a simple, “OMG.” The Last Bison also responded to this, writing, “@ellalangleymusic we had so much fun cookin’ this up!”
During an Instagram Story share, Ella also reposted a clip of the moment. At the time, she captioned the share, “I may never recover from this.”
With The Tonight Show‘s recent share, which was also a joint post between Fallon and McConaughey, fans have also been sharing their reactions to Ella’s own simple share on social media. Many agreed that this is just the start for her. Some comments included:
