What To Know

  • Eternally Yours bosses Joe Port and Joe Wiseman open up about why Ghosts fans will love their latest CBS comedy.
  • They tease the dynamics of the new vampire series that shines a light on eternal marriage.

An all-new supernatural comedy is heading to CBS this fall as Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman bring their funny to Eternally Yours.

The comedy is described as an eternal love story about two vampires, Liz (Allegra Edwards) and Charles (Ed Weeks), who have been married for half a millennium. When their daughter Emma (Helen J. Shen) begins dating a human, Max (Jaren Lewison), they’ll struggle to accept the relationship.

While it’s definitely a bit different from Ghosts, Port and Wiseman, lovingly coined the Joes by their colleagues, are revealing what fans of their other series will love about this new one. “They definitely share a DNA of having fun supernatural ideas and characters,” Wiseman says, “but ultimately both are telling grounded stories that people can relate to and will have a lot of heart. I feel like people will have a similar experience watching Eternally Yours as they do Ghosts.”

Port echoes his collaborator’s sentiments, adding, “Yeah, it’s gonna be very grounded and very relatable. You don’t even have to be into vampires or ghosts to watch Eternally Yours I think, if you just have a spouse that you’re sick of spending time with, you can relate to it.”

But before fans can draw too many conclusions about what Port means, he chimes in, saying, “I should clarify, just for my own marriage’s sake, it’s actually not based on either of our marriages. It was inspired by our long-running writing partnership and our never-ending work marriage.”

In other words, the Joes are really putting themselves into this new comedy, which also features Rose Abdoo and Parker Young in addition to Edwards, Weeks, Shen, and Lewison. Eternally Yours will air on Thursdays in the 8:30/7:30c block, filling the spot previously held by Ghosts, which is shifting to a midseason launch for Season 6.
