Warning: This post contains discussions of self-harm.

Perez Hilton‘s family just shared a health update after the celebrity gossip blogger live-streamed himself engaging in acts of self-harm during an apparent mental health crisis.

On Saturday, August 10, a statement was published on Perez’s website detailing the latest on his condition. They also “respectfully ask[ed]” members of the media to “leave the home and the surrounding area.”

“We want to confirm that Perez remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act,” the family shared. “His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements.”

Additionally, they detailed that Hilton, 48 — whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. — remains in “serious but stable” condition.

“He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” they wrote. “His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday.”

The family added that Hilton’s children “remain safe and are being cared for by immediate family.”

On August 4, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hilton’s home following reports of the reality TV alum self-harming in a live TikTok video. “Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and he was confirmed alone inside,” a statement the sheriff’s department shared with TV Insider read.

It continued, “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication. At this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family.”

The sheriff’s office released an update later that day, sharing: “The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
