Jonathan Scott is reflecting on the very beginning of his and brother Drew Scott‘s HGTV fame.
In a Tuesday, July 14, Instagram post, Jonathan shared several photos from Season 1 of his and Drew’s very first HGTV series, Property Brothers. “Who remembers Property Brothers season 1?” he asked fans in the caption. Referring to his look at the time, Jonathan joked, “I feel like something was a little different?”
While Jonathan and Drew are known for their brunette locks, the former famously sported highlighted hair during the show’s first season back in 2011. “I sometimes forget Jonathan was a blonde,” one Instagram user remarked in the post’s comments. Another quipped, “Petition for the hair to come back??”
Someone else shared, “Love the longer blonde hair. Bring it back.” A different person posted, “Oohhh you guys are the only thing that got me through lockdown!” A separate commenter stated, “I thought Jonathan looked good with the blonde hair. Looks like a California surfer boy!”
Poking fun at both of their Season 1 appearances, Drew joked in the comments, “Oooh that hair!!”
Property Brothers helped establish Jonathan and Drew as two of HGTV’s biggest stars. The original series ran for 14 seasons from 2011 to 2019. The show has launched several spinoffs over the years, including Property Brothers: Forever Home, Brother vs. Brother, Celebrity IOU, Chasing the West, and more.
The twins’ latest HGTV series, Property Brothers: Under Pressure, premiered on March 15. “The Scott Brothers will guide clients through the ups and downs of the home buying process — from fiercely competitive markets and sticker shock to personal wish lists and tough compromises — when their emotional and financial stakes are at an all-time high,” the show’s official description reads. “Once the deals are done, Drew and Jonathan will then incorporate stunning, smart and functional design solutions into budget-conscious renovations that create their dream homes.”
Jonathan is going solo, and outside of HGTV, for his next TV project. Last month, CBS Media Ventures announced that they are developing a new talk show hosted by Jonathan, titled Better! With Jonathan Scott. The series filmed a pilot but has not officially been greenlit for the fall 2027 syndication season.
“We’re developing BETTER! with Jonathan Scott — a new daytime talk show built around great conversations, practical home tips, inspiring stories, and amazing guests and lifestyle experts who can help all of us live a little better (while having some fun along the way),” he wrote in a June 10 Instagram post.
Jonathan continued, “This project feels like a natural next chapter for me. Everything I’ve learned from renovating homes, meeting incredible people, and hearing your stories over the years has led here. And while Property Brothers and home renovations will remain a huge part of my life (don’t worry!), this gives me a chance to bring those lessons into a whole new conversation.”
