There are two kinds of people when it’s time to leave a party or a job: those who quickly exit and those who drag out their goodbyes for as long as possible. A beloved Fox News anchor revealed that they abruptly quit out of the blue. Keep reading to find out more on the situation and the anchor’s last airdate.
Fox News Anchor Abruptly Quits Show After 5 Years
How we get our news is rapidly changing. Some people still watch the local and national news for the day’s headlines. But most people get news throughout the day on various social media outlets. As a result of a dying platform, many TV anchors are retiring or leaving for less stressful opportunities. But one young anchor abruptly quit after only five years with Fox News.

Shaynah Ferreira, 30, graduated from Emerson College in 2017 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. It didn’t take her long to put her degree to good use. She began her career as a small-time reporter in her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. She went on to work in Savannah, Georgia, and Hartford, Connecticut before landing at a Fox News affiliate.
Shaynah Ferreira joined Fox 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2021 as a general reporter. She was promoted to anchor of Good Morning Philadelphia Weekend in 2021. But her time with the network is coming to a sudden end. She took to Instagram on Monday, August 17, to share the surprising news.
“Dear Philly, It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years since you first welcomed me into your homes. Philadelphia has meant so much to me, both personally and professionally. It’s a city unlike any other. It’s been a joy to call this city home, to deliver the news, to build community, and be part of it. Being here has helped shape who I am today and it’s helped me become not only a better human, but a better journalist,” she wrote. “That’s what makes this announcement so bittersweet.”

“After much prayer and consideration, I’ll be leaving @fox29philly next month. My final show will be Sunday, September 6th,” Shaynah Ferreira shared. She thanked her colleagues, the station leadership and, of course, viewers.
Viewers React To Shocking News
Shaynah Ferreira made quite the impression after just five years at the Fox News affiliate. She promised to keep viewers updated on her next move. But her loss is a great one for the network. Heartbroken viewers took to the comments to react to her shocking departure.
- “No other city shows love the way our beloved Philly does! Shaynah, you’ve made your mark.”
- “Not my fav news anchor leaving”
- “Congratulations Shaynah!! So excited for you and your next adventure!”
- “Shaynah!! You are SO incredibly good!!! Your next stop is beyond blessed to have you”
- “so sad but also so excited for you.”
- “Oh no. Philly is going to miss you”
- “Congratulations, but you’ll be truly missed. I don’t know what I’m going to do on morning weekends”
Shaynah Ferreira has a few more weeks before it’s officially goodbye. But viewers are definitely going to miss her. We wish her the best on her future adventures.
