In addition to co-hosting Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos is working on a special TV project with his wife, Ali Wentworth.
Per Deadline, the couple will serve as executive producers on the new Hulu drama series The Pinnacle, which is currently in development. Along with Stephanopoulos and Wentworth, the show will be written and executive-produced by Damon Cardasis and Jamieson Baker.
“Set in the cutthroat world of New York City real estate, The Pinnacle is the story of ambitious and streetsmart Charlie Mahoney, who is catapulted to the heart of the billionaire Van Buren family and their dazzling penthouse on New York’s Billionaire’s Row after becoming the sobriety companion to their troubled son, Theo,” the show’s logline reads. “As he gains their trust and acclimates to their sumptuous lifestyle, Charlie must navigate scheming staff, suspicious friends, and romantic entanglements while hiding a secret of his own and securing his permanent place in New York’s ultra-wealthy circles.”
Stephanopoulos and Wentworth, along with Alyssa Mastromonaco, will executive produce through the couple’s production company, Bedby8. The company develops scripted shows, limited series, and documentaries, such as Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields. Tracy Underwood will produce through Hustle & Punch. Both companies have deals with 20th Television, which is the studio behind The Pinnacle, per the outlet.
No further details about the show have been announced, including casting announcements and whether or not Hulu has officially picked up the series.
Wentworth celebrated the show’s announcement by sharing a screenshot of Deadline’s article via Instagram on Tuesday, June 16. “We’re all excited about this project at @bedby8productions,” she captioned the post.
The couple’s friends and colleagues congratulated them on the project in the post’s comments. “That’s awesome guys!!! Drama and real estate. One in the same!” wrote GMA‘s Lara Spencer. Stephanopoulos’ GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts added, “Can’t wait to watch, congrats!” ABC News’ Rebecca Jarvis gushed, “Love!” Debra Messing shared, “Congratulations!!”
Fans also shared their excitement for the new series. “WE NEED A LOT OF ALI in this!” one person wrote. Another added, “Will watch it for sure.” Someone else shared, “Looking forward to watching it!”
Stephanopoulos and Wentworth have been married since 2001 and share two daughters, Elliott and Harper. Stephanopoulos joined ABC News in 1997 and has co-anchored GMA since 2009.
Last month, Stephanopoulos received an honorary doctor of laws degree from his alma mater, Columbia University. Wentworth celebrated the accomplishment by sharing photos from the ceremony via Instagram.
