Ginger Zee could be the next Good Morning America host to turn their off-screen passion into a new series.
The meteorologist’s husband, Ben Aaron, recently pitched that Zee should host her own gardening show. He began campaigning for the series by listing possible titles in a funny Friday, May 15, Instagram video.
“Potential titles for Ginger’s gardening show,” he stated as Zee worked in her garden behind him. “Ginger Roots. Weather and Weeding. Vegging Out. Soiled. The Green Fiend. The Need for Seeds. Planter Beside Us. A Weathered Garden. My Garden Hoe. Garden Zeeson. The Dirt Flirt. Happy Little Zees.”
Zee busted out some dance moves after Aaron suggested the show be called The Ripe Stuff, a nod to “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” by New Kids on the Block. Listing more show names, he continued, “Seedeorologist Ginger Zee. The Zee’s Knees. Plants and Rants. Pardon My Garden. Tall Grass, Great Personality.”
Poking fun at adult content websites, Aaron joked, “Only Plants was taken, so I’m thinking Corn Hub.” He continued, “A Lush Garden. Rooted in Science, and I Dig Ginger. Please, tell us what you think. Which one is your favorite?”
GMA‘s Lara Spencer shared her love for the idea in the post’s comments, writing, “Omg.” Several fans even offered their own show name suggestions. “Gardening, from A to Zee,” one Instagram user pitched. Another stated, “I see plant people,” while someone else wrote, “A Little Closer to Homegrown.” A different person proposed, “Love these!! I’d also like to submit ‘Going Green with Ginger’ for consideration.”
Other fans expressed their desire to see the gardening show become a reality. “These are all so good for real. plants and rants would be more for your show,” one commenter said. Another shared, “I’ll watch anything with Gingerbread!”
Someone else stated, “I dig Ginger!! So cute! I love it!! I have told SO many people about Ginger’s raised beds!” Another commenter posted, “We need her garden show!”
Zee has previously shared her love of gardening on social media. “Current status, almost greenhouse time. I’m so excited about what’s coming together. ‘Tis the season!” she said in an April 9 Instagram video, teasing her progress of building a greenhouse.
While a gardening show starring Zee is not currently in the works, Spencer brought her love of thrift shopping to the small screen earlier this year with the competition series That Thrifting Show. Hosted by the GMA star, the series saw design duos go head-to-head to transform identical spaces using only thrifted and vintage items.
The show, which launched in March, was inspired by Spencer and her late mother’s shared love of thrifting. Her mom, Carolyn von Seelen, died at the age of 85 in February.
“What started out as sort of necessity became this shared love and pastime,” she explained on the March 19 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. “Anytime we saw each other, we would go to whatever flea market or we’d create a map to go to yard sales and just find really cool ‘objet,’ as she would call it.”
