Ginger Zee started her week on Good Morning America by celebrating a major career milestone.
In a Tuesday, November 3, Instagram post, Zee revealed she celebrated her 15th anniversary with The Walt Disney Company the day before. “As @samwnek & @theaudiocreative walked out with me Monday they noted my 15 years of service ‘fit’ seemed about right for the comfort and gratitude I have for being with the company this long,” she wrote.
The meteorologist added, “It’s been a quarter century in the business but most of it spent right here and I am thankful.”
Zee’s post featured several photos of herself and a commemorative Mickey Mouse statue she received for her anniversary. The plaque on the statue’s base read, “Presented to Ginger Zuidgeest recognizing 15 magical years with The Walt Disney Company.”
Zee’s fans and colleagues congratulated her in the post’s comments. “So well deserved. And I am so jealous of the years of service statues you guys get,” Al Roker wrote. Zee replied to the Today host’s comment, joking, “I know you have a few in your home @debrobertsabc.” (Roker is married to ABC News’ Deborah Roberts.)
ABC News’ Stephanie Ramos wrote, “Its beautiful! Congrats Ginger!” FOX 5 NY meteorologist Lauren Kreidler called Zee the “coolest human there is!!!” The Weather Channel‘s Stephanie Abrams gushed, “Congrats @ginger_zee … here’s to many more!”
One fan wrote, “Way to go Ginger!! Keep on shining!” Another added, “Congratulations. It’s such a joy to see your enthusiasm for weather and the environment.” Someone else shared, “That’s so cool, Ginger! Love that trophy! Congratulations on 15 years! Keep up the great work!”
Zee joined the ABC News family in 2011 as a weekend meteorologist on GMA. She officially took over for Sam Champion as the morning show’s main weather anchor in 2013.
Zee got her start at local TV stations in Michigan and Indiana and worked as a meteorologist for the Chicago NBC affiliate WMAQ-Channel 5 from 2006 to 2011, per her ABC News bio.
Off the small screen, Zee married her husband, Ben Aaron, in 2014. The couple welcomed their sons, Adrian and Miles, in 2015 and 2019, respectively.
Ahead of her career milestone, Zee shared several snaps of her family’s fun weekend activities via Instagram. “Beautiful busy weekend from the field to the wedding dance floor and glorious fall weather in the Catskills,” she captioned the Monday upload, which featured pics of the family at a New York Jets game and a wedding outside of the city.
