Ford is an actor known for various iconic roles. This includes Han Solo in the Star Wars film franchise, Indiana Jones in the films of the same name, and Rick Deckard in the Blade Runner franchise.
Ford has also appeared in films including Witness, Working Girl, and Air Force One. In recent years, fans have seen him on the Paramount+ series 1923 and the Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking.

However, even with such a prominent career, there have been times when Ford has faced darker days. Recently, while appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast, he opened up about dealing with depression when he was younger.
The actor shared that he would rarely leave the solo dorm room that he called his home while residing at Wisconsin’s Ripon College. Ford shared, “I would get up out of my single bed, go to a phone, order a pizza, go back and lie down in bed until the pizza came. I would eat the pizza, throw the wrappers in the corner, go back to sleep.”
The Actor Touched On What Helped With Mental Well-Being
Ford claimed that the time he would attend classes was “rare.” When he described these experiences, he shared that he would “touch the door on the outside of the building and turn around and walk back.”
Looking back, Ford described his condition as more than depression. He shared, “I was more than depressed. I think I was ill. I was socially ill, psychologically not well.”
According to the star, he never really made friends or “found a community” in college. Things turned around for him when he enrolled in drama class to help his GPA.
This drama class helped him find a sense of community, aided his mental well-being, and helped him discover the importance of telling stories. In fact, he claimed that, during this time, he discovered stories of life that “were informative and some of them were exceptional in their capacity to understand human behavior.” He noted, “I think I simply found my place amongst storytellers. It was the story that gave me a focus and an opportunity to think about something and be part of it with a group of people. It really changed my world, changed my life.”
