Jenny and Dave Marrs are welcoming a new family member less than a week after sending their kids back to school.
“It’s been a big week with lots of big emotions (hi, the twins drove themselves to school but that can’t be because they were just my rambunctious little guys a BLINK ago) so when Dave found a kitten stuck in a tree on our property yesterday, making her feel safe was the perfect distraction from my how-can-they-all-be-so-grown-up woes,” Jenny wrote in a Thursday, August 13, Instagram post.
Jenny noted that she would take the kitten to see if it had a chip. “If not, she’ll stay,” she shared. “Because, even though he acts like he doesn’t love the chaos, Dave suggested the name Jill since our Jill would’ve loved finding a kitten on the farm. She would’ve taken her in like she did so many times before.”
She added, “Everyone is curious about Jill this morning and I’m procrastinating alllllll the things I need to do today by taking videos of this adorableness. That’s all. That’s the post. If you needed some kitten cuteness too, you’re welcome.”
The Instagram upload featured a sweet video of the family’s dog, Sally-Sue, curiously checking out the cat. Fans gushed over the Marrs family’s latest addition in the comments of Jenny’s post. “God knew you needed someone special ‘this week. Welcome Jill and if she has a home and has to leave how wonderful to take her home,” one user wrote. Another added, “Jill if you get to keep her is absolutely adorable, needed this cuteness overload on this hectic morning.”
Someone else pointed out how Jill is the name of the family’s late friend who passed away last year. “I have a strong feeling that this one was sent to you by Jill and that she’s gonna make a forever home here. Heck, if I were a kitten, I’d do the same thing,” they shared. A different person posted, “She’s beautiful! She looks very much at home already.”
Despite the meaningful potential name, Jenny revealed in a Thursday Instagram Story update that the family will have to think of something else to call the cat. “Update: no chip and also, it’s a boy! Name pending…” Jenny wrote alongside a clip of her youngest son, Luke, snuggling with their new pet. (Jenny and Dave share five kids: Nathan, Ben, Sylvie, Charlotte, and Luke.)
Earlier this week, Dave celebrated the start of the school year by sharing a photo from the kids’ first day back. “First day of school for the kids. It blows my mind how fast time goes,” he captioned the Wednesday, August 12, upload. “They are all the best parts of @jennymarrs and me. Love them so much.”
In the post’s comments, Jenny gushed, “The very best.” She shared the same photo on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, along with a pic of Nathan and Ben driving to school in their own car.

“They drove themselves today,” she wrote along the pic of the twins, who turned 16 back in May, “I’m fully unprepared for how fast they’re growing up.”
Jenny and Dave’s major life updates come as they are currently in production on Season 8 of HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous. “This year, we have a lot. We’ve got a lot of projects going on,” Jenny teased in a June interview with TV Insider.
