Hoda Kotb had nothing but love for her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman, on Father’s Day.
The former Today host celebrated Schiffman on the holiday by sharing a new photo of him with their two daughters, Haley and Hope. “Best father’s day to the best father,” Kotb captioned the Instagram pic, which featured Schiffman posing with his arms around their kids.
Fans sent their own Father’s Day well-wishes to Schiffman, as well as praised the pair’s co-parenting relationship, in the post’s comments. “They need you Joel, more than you can imagine!” one person wrote. Another added, “This brings tears to my heart, so lovely it will make for a happy family forever.”

Kotb met Schiffman in 2013, and the two quietly dated before going public with their relationship in 2015. The duo became parents when they adopted Haley in 2017. Schiffman popped the question in 2019, the same year he and Kotb adopted Hope. In January 2022, Kotb announced on Today that she and Schiffman had ended their engagement.
“We decided that we are gonna start this new year and begin it, kind of, on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends,” Kotb shared on the fourth hour of Today at the time. “And it’s not like something happened. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, for a season, or for a lifetime, and I feel like ours was meant to be there for a season.”
Kotb has maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship with Schiffman in the years since. Schiffman occasionally pops up on Kotb’s social media feed, as he joins her and their two daughters for holidays and major family moments.
“Merry Christmas,” Hoda captioned a Christmas Day Instagram post in December 2025. Schiffman joined Hoda, their kids, her mom, Sameha Kotb, and her sister, Hala Kotb, for their holiday celebrations. The group rang in Christmas in matching festive pajamas.
Back in March, Kotb shared more photos of Schiffman with Haley and Hope in celebration of his birthday. “Happy bday to the best DAD!!!” she captioned the Instagram upload.
