HGTV‘s Home Town: Inn This Together ended on an emotional note for viewers and for Erin and Ben Napier‘s family.
The Home Town spinoff ended its four-episode run on Sunday, May 31. The series followed Erin and Ben as they helped their friends, Jim and Mallorie Rasberry, and Josh Nowell, transform a run-down building in Laurel, Mississippi, into the new Heirloom Hotel.
While the episode featured the group giving local officials a preview of the hotel, it also addressed the devastating August 2025 fire that severely damaged the building before its official opening. In a Tuesday, June 2, Instagram post, Ben shared how his and Erin’s eldest daughter reacted to the episode. (The couple shares two daughters, Helen and Mae.)
“I asked Helen to make me a list of songs that sounded the way she felt after watching Sunday night’s Heirloom finale. This is what she came up with,” Ben captioned a snap of Helen’s song list. “I was impressed and had never even heard a couple of them.”
The 8-year-old’s picks included “This Is the Last Time” by Keane, “Hero” by Family of the Year, “You Say” by Lauren Daigle, “Sidelines” by Phoebe Bridgers, “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane, and “Last Kiss” by Pearl Jam.
Fans were surprised by Helen’s music choices. “Big Keane fan,” Erin commented underneath the post, while one fan wrote, “I’m more impressed that she does such a great job writing in cursive! Way to go Helen!!” Another added, “Helen wants to listen to some Pearl Jam? You go Helen!”
Someone else shared, “You Say is one of my favorites. Such a great reminder of our identity.” A different person posted, “Keane gives me all the feels every single time. Impressive list Helen.” A separate commenter stated, “This kid’s musical taste is superior! I’m sure she had good influences.”
Since the end of Home Town: Inn This Together, Erin and Ben have revealed on social media that their friends are facing financial issues as they continue rebuilding the hotel. “It has been nearly a year since the fire, and our friends are STILL waiting on @libertymutual to complete the claim,” Ben wrote in a Monday, June 1, Instagram post. “We don’t know what the future holds, but we know God holds us. Thanks for watching the biggest thing to happen in downtown Laurel in a long time.”
Erin, for her part, posted letters a young fan wrote to Liberty Mutual on behalf of the Heirloom Hotel crew via Instagram on Sunday. “My dear friend, Mr. Amos Sledge, age 11, hopes @libertymutual hears his plea and does the right thing. So do I,” she captioned the upload.
In one of the letters, Amos wrote, “Our country has been in a hard time lately. This hotel and this show have shown truth and beauty, and what hard work and true friendship can do. As of right now, your company has not approved their claim to have the money to rebuild. It is heartbreaking to watch the show and see how hard they worked. They put it all on the line. I am writing to ask respectfully that you please approve their claim. This is your chance to prove Liberty Mutual is different.”
