I Want Your Sex is writer-director Gregg Araki‘s first feature film in 12 years. The Mysterious Skin creator has lent his talents to TV shows such as Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story in the time since 2014’s White Bird in a Blizzard, his last film release. His cinematic return stars Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman in a story that, unlike other shows and movies that have tried and failed in recent years, delivers a nuanced dialogue on the generational differences between Millennials, Gen Z, their relationships to sex, and the social media-driven age of loneliness in which we find ourselves.
I Want Your Sex, written by Araki and Karley Sciortino, was released in theaters on July 31. In it, an early 20-something man, Elliot (Hoffman), finds his wildest fantasies come true when he lands a job with a renowned artist, Erika Tracy (Wilde), who taps him to become her sexual muse. But he soon finds himself out of his depth as she takes him on a journey filled with sex, obsession, power, betrayal, and murder.
