Howard Stern Puts SiriusXM At Risk With Shocking Move

- Advertisment -

Howard Stern has been under fire for letting go of a dozen staffers without adequate pay. Moreover, some were people who had been with Stern for decades. Therefore, this was a poor move, and with the amount of money he has, followers felt he could have stepped up on their behalf. Now, Stern has made another shocking move, and it could put SiriusXM at risk. Keep reading for more details.

SiriusXM Could Crumble

When Howard Stern made the drastic move to SiriusXM in 2006, it was a huge deal. It was a five-year, $500 million deal, and fans were beyond thrilled. They could not wait to hear him on an uncensored forum after years of feeling like he was being held back or tested. Over time, he was pushing the envelope, knowing that he was so beloved. He would cut back his days, take excessive vacations, and play repeat episodes when he felt like it. Then, he fired around a dozen employees via Zoom, and fans were shocked. The staffers had been loyal and dedicated but were left with next to nothing.

Now, it has come out that Stern will likely cut down to one episode per week come Fall 2026, and listeners are livid. They do not feel that he values his fans anymore and do not think it is worth keeping their SiriusXM subscriptions. Therefore, many have opted to cancel their subs without a second thought:

  • @SIRIUSXM if all this Stern stuff is true, I’m cancelling after 20 years. I’m a huge fan. But paying for 1 3hr show a week is insane. The talent on the show is top tier, they could run days of content that they do and we’d engage. #howardstern#sternshow

Getting SiriusXM For Howard

For years, many people just got SiriusXM just to listen to Howard Stern. However, it has expanded, and there are many choices for all listeners. At the same time, with the number of faithful listeners Stern has, if they were to all cancel their subs at once, it could spell disaster for the streamer. They want more for what they are paying for, and that means more than one episode of his show per week. Some have stated that they knew this was coming, but it is still a bummer all the same.

Howard Stern has been around for decades, but with him doing one show a week, fans are saying it is time he retire:

  • What is the point anymore.. just call it a career already
  • This show just needs to be taken out back and given the Old Yeller treatment
  • They are just giving grandpa something to do at this point, nothing to do with entertainment.

Do you think SiriusXM is going to pay a high price or will they be just fine? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
