What To Know

  • Whitney Fransway made a comment that angered Lindsay Hubbard on the penultimate episode of In the City Season 1.
  • In an interview with TV Insider, she explains what she really meant by claiming that Lindsay uses the “single mom card.”
  • Whitney also teased what’s to come between her and Lindsay at the upcoming In the City reunion.

Whitney Fransway managed to avoid most of the drama on In the City this season … until last week’s penultimate episode. After her comment about Lindsay Hubbard using the “single mom card” to get what she wants got back to Lindsay, things exploded at the group’s Friendsgiving getaway in Connecticut.

“I definitely didn’t expect it to blow up the way that it did, but it’s not surprising, I guess, because Lindsay takes everything quite to heart and quite personal,” Whitney told TV Insider. “I definitely was getting to the point of, towards the end of the season, seeing Lindsay play the victim in every situation and kind of get out of everything.”

The comment was made after the cast members were choosing rooms in their Connecticut rental. Whitney’s boyfriend, Kenny Martin, offered to let Yvonne Najor and Nick Barber have their first pick of rooms since their wedding celebration had been overtaken by drama the previous week. Lindsay jumped in to insist she and Georgina Ferzli would be taking the master bedroom since they were single moms who were getting a break from their children for a few days.

Whitney explained that she meant no disrespect to single mothers with her comment, but pointed out, “My example was [Lindsay] pulled the single mom card for the room situation, but it wasn’t meant to be an attack on single moms. It was meant to be an example of her putting herself first before her friendship [with Yvonne] that was kind of in a rocky place because of her. She spun it into that I’m not for women and I’m against single moms and all these other things.”

The Bachelor alum reiterated that her comment was not meant to be a generalization about single mothers and said Lindsay “always twists every little situation to play the victim.” The situation continues in the July 14 finale, and Whitney teased a confrontation with Lindsay in next week’s reunion, as well.

“I think she let a lot off her chest there,” Whitney dished. “Again, I think she made it about [the single mom] issue, and that wasn’t where I was going with that comment. I tried to explain it. I finally got to talk to her after we filmed the reunion and let her actually hear me out because I think she wasn’t hearing me at all, especially during the reunion.”

But Whitney’s “not exactly sure” where she stands with Lindsay now. “Hopefully, we’ll be in a better place,” she added. “I don’t know. From what I’m seeing online, I’m not really sure where we are, but hopefully, we’re in a little bit better place than at the reunion.”

Whitney said Lindsay “takes it down a whole different lane” in the two-part reunion, adding, “I felt like I needed to have another conversation with her post-reunion for her to actually hear me and hear from my heart. She wasn’t in a place to hear me at the reunion, that’s for sure.”
