Tammy Slaton Has Come A Long Way
There is no doubt Tammy Slaton has overcome a lot in her life. Since 1000-Lb Sisters first debuted on TLC in 2020, viewers have watched her lose more than 400 pounds. Prior to her major weight loss, Tammy was over 700 pounds and could not get around on her own.
On top of that, she generally just had a decreased quality of life. Eventually, her health issues landed her in the emergency room and, eventually, in a long-term care facility where she finally got the help she needed.
Now, the TLC star has not only gained mobility, but she has also gained a lot of confidence. Losing weight and coming out on the other side of her health scare has changed her outlook on life.
She has been getting out there and doing things that she couldn’t before, including a trip to Disney World. However, there have been several signs that Tammy Slaton may be struggling financially.
Is The 1000-Lb Sisters Star Broke?
The 1000-Lb Sisters star recently responded to a mean comment on one of her TikTok videos. Tammy has been creating videos to share and seems to enjoy dancing and lip-syncing along to music on the app.
In the comment, someone told the TLC star to “Fix them teeth.” People who comment on her videos frequently bring up her teeth. Tammy’s response explained that she can’t afford to fix her teeth right now. She said that she can afford to pay her bills, but can’t cover a big expense like fixing her teeth. Then she pointed out that comments like this one didn’t help her confidence levels.
Another TikTok video seemed to show Tammy Slaton agreeing with the fact that she’s broke. In the clip, three cards hovered over her head face down titled “My Truth Cards.” The first card revealed the words “You look good.” The second flipped over and read, “You are moody.” Amused, Tammy agreed to both. The third card read, “You are poor,” and she nodded, smiling.

This isn’t all that surprising when you think about it though. The Slaton family is not affluent. They are a working-class family who lives in rural Kentucky. After paying for her weight loss surgery, Tammy simply doesn’t have any money left to pay for things that aren’t impacting her health and wellness directly.
Reports suggest that 1000-Lb Sisters is in its filming stage, but TLC has not confirmed Season 6 yet.
