The first season of I Will Find You closely follows the events of the book of the same name by Harlan Coben, up to and including the ending. However, the future of the main characters in the story certainly isn’t written in stone in either iteration. So, could the series return for a second run after Season 1?
Here’s what we know so far.
Is I Will Find You renewed for Season 2?
No. It is billed as a limited series by Netflix, much like the other Harlan Coben adaptations on the platform.
Is there a second I Will Find You book coming?
When asked if Coben has any intentions of returning to the story after the events of Season 1, the author told TV Insider, “Probably not. Whenever I do [a show] — I think this is my 13th series with Netflix — it’s always with the intention of never writing these characters again. It’s all out on the table. It’s not fair to ask people to watch eight episodes of a series and wait two years for Season 2, so everything is kind of answered.”
However, Coben didn’t completely close the door on the possibility, saying, “I never say never. If we somehow came up with a storyline that would be as good as this one for these characters, I would tell it, but I don’t think we’re going to, and I’m not going to push it. I’d rather do a new story.”
However, Coben is just as curious as anyone about whether his characters have a happy ending or not, saying, “I wouldn’t mind, at some point, gathering some people who have seen the whole show and saying, ‘Tell me what happens for the next year, where a year from now are these characters?’ and hearing their answers. I think the audience is going to hope for the best.”
Who stars in I Will Find You?
The series features Sam Worthington in the lead as David Burroughs, a man who’s served five years of a life sentence for murdering his son. Britt Lower costars as Rachel Mills, David’s former sister-in-law, who finds a photo of a boy who looks like the one who was supposedly murdered and helps David make a break from prison to find the truth.
The first season also starred Milo Ventimiglia, Madeleine Stowe, Chi McBride, Logan Browning, Jonathan Tucker, Clancy Brown, Erin Richards, and Aaron Ashmore.
