What To Know
- The Voice has already begun filming Season 31, despite not officially confirming the new installment yet.
- Many viewers believe that Season 31 will be a shorter season with a “gimmick,” similar to the Battle of Champions theme from Season 29.
- Fans are theorizing that the 2027 season could feature only contestants who have previously auditioned for the show.
With Season 31 of The Voice filming its Blind Auditions at the end of last month, fans are anxiously waiting for more information about the upcoming season. It won’t air until 2027 (Season 30 will be on in fall 2026), but there are already some theories brewing about what we can expect.
Fans over on Reddit are convinced there will be a “gimmick” for the 31st season, just like Season 29 featured a Battle of Champions theme, with just three coaches instead of four. Since NBC now features a schedule heavy with NBA games in the spring, there’s less room for The Voice in the network’s programming, so another shortened season is certainly possible.
What that possible “gimmick” will be this time around remains to be seen, but a lot of commenters think it could be a season of contestants who have all auditioned before.
One fan pointed to evidence for the theory, noting, “The Official Voice Casting Instagram never posted about Season 31 Castings, so I think the gimmick will be returning artists only auditioning. Other comments from different posts have thought of this idea.” Indeed, the tickets for audience members to attend the Blind Auditions for Season 31 went out without any casting call for contestants beforehand. There are also already tickets available to attend the Season 31 Battle Round tapings later this month.
Another commenter responded to the Reddit thread guessing that the season could be filled with “celebrity” contestants, citing Tom Sandoval as an example of a star who could audition for the show in hopes of having a music career take off (Sandoval previously auditioned for America’s Got Talent.)
On a different Reddit thread, a commenter begged NBC to reveal the Season 31 coaches, and someone replied, “I think it’s [taking so long] because its going to be shorter season with a gimmick again.”
It was previously rumored in a different thread that Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green will be the coaches for Season 31, and another person cited this and the returning contestants theory, adding, “My prediction is that … it’ll be an all stars season where contestants from 1-29 will come back and audition, those 3 coaches are chosen cause of the fact that they never coached these contestants before.” Jonas has never coached the U.S. version of The Voice before, while Green and Queen Latifah will be making their Voice debuts in Season 30.
