  • The farewell included a career montage, heartfelt tributes from crew, and goodbye gifts.

Longtime Fox & Friends meteorologist Janice Dean couldn’t hold back her tears on Friday (July 10) as she said goodbye to colleagues and viewers for one last time.

Last month, Dean announced that she’d be leaving Fox News after 22 years due to her multiple sclerosis symptoms. In an emotional video shared on social media, Dean explained that the early mornings, physical demands, and stress of live broadcasting had become too challenging.

Dean returned to Fox & Friends one last time on Friday to give her final farewell. “I have shared a lot on TV in those 22 years, maybe too much sometimes,” she said. “I got engaged, I showed Steve Doocy my engagement ring, I was pregnant with my two boys… I told the audience I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 20 years ago, and I talked about the death of my in-laws during COVID.”

“So, I’ve shared a lot on TV, and one thing I realized I didn’t share was a goodbye,” Dean continued before becoming choked up. “And so that’s why I feel this is important for me.”

She said that a lot of people don’t talk about it, but when you leave a job or career after a long time, there is “a grieving period.” Dean described the crew as her “second family,” telling them that this on-air goodbye will help her with the grieving period.

“Turning the page on this chapter has been really heavy, but maybe the page will get lighter after this, so thank you,” she added.

Fox & Friends also aired a montage of Dean’s long career at the network, featuring various clips of her reporting the weather outside in New York City, from the Fox Weather vehicle, and in the studio.

“I wasn’t gonna cry, and now I’m crying, so thank you,” she said.

Dean broke into tears again as she talked abouther husband, Sean Newman, a retired Battalion Chief for the Fire Department of New York City, and his support throughout her battle with MS. “I just have this appreciation for what he did for all those years to help me have a career,” she said through tears.

Crew members then came onto the set with a selection of goodbye gifts for Dean, including a framed picture, flowers, cake, balloons, and a Fox & Friends coffee mug.

“I finally got a coffee mug!” Dean joked as she wiped away her tears.
