Jeopardy! Masters kicked off its fourth season on Tuesday, August 25, and fans think the game was extremely hard. The tournament hosts the best of the best Jeopardy! players, so it’s no shock that they’ve upped the ante.
The first quarterfinal game had Paolo Pasco, Long Nguyen, and Andrew He facing off against each other. Pasco came out with the win and received three match points.
During the second game, returning Masters finalists Yogesh Raut, Juveria Zaheer, and Victoria Groce faced off against each other. Groce came out on top despite Zaheer going all-in on the Daily Double wagers. Groce received three match points for her win.
Groce and Pasco will face off against each other in the third quarterfinal game on Wednesday, August 26. Tune in until September 8 to find out who takes it all.
Clues included musical ones read by musician Yo-Yo Ma, Roman numerals, medicine and science, museums, and more. Most of them were just the Daily Double categories.
Fans took to Reddit after the games to express their opinions on them. “I just feel so dumb. I feel dumb,” one fan posted in a gif.
“I legit felt dumb watching this. These games were on hard mode,” another said.
“Even the *wrong* responses were things I didn’t know,” a third added.
“So many clues where I literally had no earthly idea! Kudos to these Masters,” one fan said.
“Wow! These were hard clues,” another fan said.
Other fans said Pasco “crushed it” and was a “beast.”
There will be five more quarterfinal episodes, two semifinals, and one final. The winner of the tournament will take home $500,000, the Jeopardy! Masters trophy, the glory of winning, and $100,000 to the charity of their choice. However, no one in this competition walks away empty-handed. Even the sixth-place finisher gets $50,000.
Groce and Pasco both have three points. Nguyen and Raut are tied with one. He and Zaheer are in last place so far with zero. With many more games to go, that can all change.
