Jersey Shore fans are expressing both criticism and concern for Jenni “JWoww” Farley after a recent sighting in New York City. On September 17, JWoww attended the Rookie Kids: Runway on Broadway fashion show to support her kids as they modeled, but it was her appearance that had everyone buzzing.
In the comments section of a video from the event, Instagram users were quick to point out JWoww’s severe weight loss, which has seemingly come at an alarmingly rapid rate. The reality star herself acknowledged that she looks different, but explained the reason why in the comments.
“Apologies to everyone offended by my weight lol I have never been this thin since middle school,” she began. “bbut unfortunately, I was told I couldn’t eat for six days in the hospital as they debated taking out my appendix while I was also suffering from a kidney abscess the size of a golf ball.”

She clarified that she had been diagnosed with appendicitis and a kidney infection, adding “Because I had this ongoing I was losing weight over the summer.” JWoww concluded by noting, “What sucks more is the fact that I can’t control how thin I am right now and I didn’t do any ‘shots’ for this to happen. But I will ask when I gain all the [weight] back for you to then comment about how fat I got because women cant’ win either way.”
On September 3, JWoww revealed that she had been hospitalized, calling it “probably one of the hardest weeks of my life.” She revealed her appendicitis and kidney infection diagnosis and explained, “I want to say it came out of nowhere, but the truth is, I haven’t felt like myself for months. Weight loss, exhaustion, constantly feeling off… and then last Friday, my body finally said, ‘We aren’t making it like this anymore.’”
Her latest health struggles come following the end of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation on MTV and her wedding to Zack Carpinello over the summer.
