Before the back-to-school season began, Joanna Gaines traveled across the pond for a special girls’ trip with her two daughters, Ella and Emmie.
“Finally got to the English countryside with my girls,” Gaines captioned a Tuesday, August 18, Instagram video featuring footage from the mother-daughter trip. “Thanks for showing us around @hohantiques. It was all such a dream.”
The video featured several clips of Gaines exploring a picturesque English town, beautiful gardens, and stunning architecture with Ella and Emmie, with the former snapping several photos along the way. Though Gaines didn’t show her daughters’ faces, both Ella and Emmie resembled their mother with their long, wavy hair.
Fans reacted to Gaines and her daughters’ special trip in the post’s comments. “Gaines girl hair genes run strong,” one person wrote. A U.K. native added, “We need Magnolia here Joanna! It would only add to the beauty and depth of our country and culture xxx.”

Gaines and the girls visited England for a special reason, as they attended the Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair. “Antiquing trip in the UK? Sign me up! Thank you @hohantiques for showing us around- you thought of every detail and were such wonderful hosts!” she captioned another Instagram video from the trip on Wednesday, August 19. “Wasn’t super proud of my performance. I’m clearly out of antiquing shape but so excited about all the goodies we get to bring home! #newarkinternationalantiquesfair.”
In the video, Gaines brought fans along as she found fun antique items to bring back home to Texas. “My girls are here, and I’ve lost them,” she stated. “They’re sending me pics of fun stuff they’re buying.”

“Thinking of all the parents sending their kids off to college this season. I’ve been on that side of move-in day, so I know the wide range of emotions well,” she wrote alongside pics of her kids on Sunday, August 16, including some of the snaps from her England trip posts. “As hard as that goodbye is, there’s nothing more fulfilling than watching your kid grow beyond you —it’s one of the greatest gifts of being a parent. May you find joy, comfort, and gratitude in the letting go.”
