No longer famous, the former TLC star lives quietly in North Carolina and seldom features in the media unless it’s about her estranged kids or her former husband, Jon Gosselin.
Kate Gosselin Ran Out Of Cash
In 2021, the former reality TV star had no option but to return to work. If you don’t know, she used to be a nurse. Fortunately, she still has a license to practice. Jon and Kate Plus 8 came to an end and later, she landed a contract with TLC for Kate Plus 8. That also ended in July 2017 after Jon accused her of filming her children without his permission. Although she reportedly earned good money as a reality TV star and wrote a number of books, the cash ran dry.
Good money previously rolled in, but it seems that a lack of financial guidance might be at the root of the loss of cash. Actually, Kate Gosselin’s ex, Jon, claimed that he wrote off money that she owed him from the many custody cases regarding Collin and Hannah, and the other sextuplets. This year, her net worth sits at about $500K. As some of that is tied up in assets, it’s not like she can dip into it any time she feels like it.

Kate Plus 8 Alum Is Living ‘Pay Check To Pay Check’
A new report by InTouch Weekly claimed that the mom of Mady, Cara, Collin, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Aaden, and Joel “lives paycheck to paycheck.” According to the report, she allegedly “borrowed $100,000 from her kids’ trust fund ‘to survive.” Work involves nursing, and like any other nurse, long shifts in a stressful situation probably take their toll.
Kate Gosselin. who once competed in Dancing with the Stars, is pretty much an empty-nester now. Mady and Cara graduated from university, and they both landed jobs in New York. Meanwhile, the sextuplets, Leah, Alexis, Aaden, and Joel now aged 19, attend college. The others, Collin and Hannah, who spoke out about allegedly abusive behavior on VICE TV’s Dark Side of the 2000s, opted to live with their dad years ago.
What Happened to Collin?
Although Kate Gosselin attended Hannah’s graduation, she still doesn’t speak with Collin. Remember, she sent him to a mental institution, and Jon managed to gain custody. These days, he is with the Marines and recently started boot camp. Although his mother was estranged from him, Collin found a close relationship with Jon’s ex-girlfriend, Colleen Conrad. While his mom mostly stays home and watches TV and the purse strings, his career looks promising.
